Yes. One must admit when they are wrong.
I brought up several points in my December review. Primary of which were issues around the mounting of the set in the box and support provided by OnBrick. However, I stand corrected.
I maintain that the material quality is good both in terms of fitting, delivery protection and overall look and feel. I looked at other case products before purchasing this one and I maintain that the quality and look and feel of the OnBrick product is better than almost all other options in the market.
There were obvious issues with the mounting of the model however. It's fair to say that suppliers often do not care and do not respond to customer complaints. Perhaps a little more patience on my part would have been beneficial. OnBrick contacted me shortly after my follow-up email and made a commitment to review their manufacturing process and test the mounting in their facility. They also committed to sending out replacement parts should an issue be identified.
They did not disappoint.
A week or so later, replacement mounting brackets and back case wall were sent out at no charge. Again, everything arrived in perfect condition. I had the opportunity to put the case together in recent days and the results speak for themselves. The model sits as expected and looks great on my shelf. The effect of the background image along with the lights really sets this whole display case off. Brilliant!
As for the instructions - a decent look at the product page actually has a video clearly showing every step of the assembly process. So it’s pretty obvious that I won't be part of any MENSA cohort in the future!
The only drawback of this case in my opinion is that it remains attached to the back wall so removal is difficult. However, given that this set does not include any opening compartments to show any internal areas, it is unlikely there would be a need to remove the model from the case regardless.
Note: This follow-up review was done on my own accord because I felt it was necessary to set the record straight and we, as customers, should take comfort knowing that OnBrick do respond to customer complaints and take appropriate action to remedy the situation.
OK. I don't typically write bad reviews but I am making an exception for this.
Delivery: Decent. I ordered this case on the 20th Nov and it arrived on the 16th Dec - so I can't complain about the delivery time. So as I said, it was decent.
Material Quality: Good. So the quality of the case materials seem pretty good. Everything arrived in good condition which surprised me because it wasn’t packaged in a box but the bubble wrap sleeve seemed to have done its job well.
This is where the good stuff ends and it goes all downhill from here.
Mounting: A complete joke. Just check out the image. The product page shows that the model mounts almost perfectly vertical to the ground but in actuality, it sags downward almost as though the mounting brackets were crafted as part of a failed primary school art project. The amount of play in the mounting is beyond comprehension - I can only imagine they used crayons when marking out the cuttings for the mounting brackets. And then comes the next part.... Once you fix the front panel on with the supplied screws you can't actually remove the model from the case without dismantling it!! Yes, you can lift the case of the base but because the model is mounted on the rear panel, the model comes off with it. It is clear that very little thought was put into its design.
Support: Now look, as I said, I don't typically write negative reviews. My first point of call if I am ever unsatisfied with a product is reaching out to the supplier/manufacturer for support. Because hey, I don't consider myself inflatable. I may have made a mistake when assembling the case or totally messed up the assembly of the mounting bracket. But I have contacted support twice - with no response. You would think that receiving an email with the subject that includes "Unhappy with product" would engender some kind of response... but no... I'm met with the deafening sound of silence. Circkets. And that’s another thing. Instructions – or lack thereof. Don’t get me wrong, you don’t need MENSA level IQ to put this thing together. But the instructions on the site are not very helpful.
So, if you want to drop approx $100 (delivered) on this mess of case, go ahead, but I think there are cheaper (although less effective) ways of achieving this level of disappointment.
